Summary: A steamboat moored on a wooded shoreline. A horse and wagon is transporting materials just left of center. Workers are following the wagon. In the foreground there are two piles of logs. The Abner O'Neal steamboat was built in 1884 for use on the Ohio River. In 1890, the steamboat began operations on the Missouri river between Pierre, S.D. and Fort Benton, Mont. In July 1892, the steamboat sank near Painted Woods, north of Bismarck. The photograph this postcard is based on was probably taken between 1871 and 1872.
