Summary: A view of a large brick building with a tower and two large chimneys visible. There is a small building to the left. There are two sets of stairs on the right side of the larger building. The University of North Dakota was established by an act of the Territorial Legislature passed in 1883. The Old Main building provided classrooms, laboratories, a museum, a library, a chapel, offices and the janitor's and president's quarters.
