Title: First National Bank, Bismarck (D.T.)
Date: Circa 1885
Inscription/Marks: Taken about 1885- Gift of Lucile and Helen Dahl of Bismarck (N.D.). The building in the cener is the First Nat'l Bank. The "Richholt & Emery" is the building of the recently failed City National Bank. [print] This is the original First National Ban building. It burned in the fire of Aug. 9, '98. Stood on the site of the present First Nat. Bank building.
Summary: A view of the First National Bank building, located at the corner of 4th Street and Main Avenue in Bismarck. Other visible businesses in the vicinity include Richholt & Emery City Market, the Land Office, and a furniture store. An advertisement for Wise & Goodkind wines and liquors is painted on the wall of a nearby building. The First National Bank was established in Bismarck in 1879, and was the second oldest bank in the state. This building burned in 1898 and was replaced with another building built in the same location.
