Summary: An overview of the town. The houses are wooden and mostly small in size. There appear to be few brick buildings. Streets are few and unpaved. First settlement was in 1872 and the community was known as Morton and Lincoln until 1878 when the name changed to Mandan. Located directly across the Missouri River from Bismarck, Mandan is the seat of Morton County.
