Title: Rollon statue and Great Northern Depot, Fargo (N.D.)

Summary: A statue of a viking stands at center surrounded by flowers and a groomed lawn. A railroad station with a clocktower and sign indicating Fargo is clearly visible in the center background. Part of a tree obscures the right side of the image. A railroad car and an automobile are at left.||Rollon, or Rollo, was a Viking who founded the French province of Normandy. The original stone sculpture was created by Arsene Letellier in 1863 and resides in Rouen, France. Two bronze statues were cast, one sent to Alesund, Norway, the birthplace of Rollon, and another to Fargo, in celebration of the community's Scandinavian heritage. The statue was dedicated in 1912, and currently resides at Elim Lutheran Church in Fargo.
