Summary: Grant Marsh sits for a portrait. He is wearing a white shirt, dark suitcoat and vest, and a bow tie.||Grant Marsh (1834-1916) handled the Coulson Line of steamers on the Missouri River in the 1870's and 1880's. The most famous of the large number of steamboats commanded and piloted by Captain Marsh, were the Far West, the Nellie Peck, the F.Y. Batchelor and the Josephine. As captain of the Far West, he brought the wounded from the Battle of the Little Big Horn. The steamer Rosebud was built especially for Captain Marsh's explorations of the Yellowstone, Big Horn and Powder rivers country.
