Collection: 00042 - Marquis de Mores Photograph Collection
Folder: 0001
Item: 00035
Title: The store in Medora (N.D.)
Date: Circa 1930
Inscription/Marks: On the front: "The store", and on the back is "0042-35".
Summary: A power/telephone pole serves a hitching post for a team of horses and a wagon. Two buildings stand up on a wooden boardwalk. The one structure is a false-front, wood-frame, wood-sided, gable-roof building. It has one door in the front wall, and a window with two side-by-side lights on the long facade. The larger building, identified as the store in Medora (N.D.), is a two-story wood-frame, wood-sided, gable-roof structure with a covered porch across the entry facade. Tall many-light windows and a recessed entry door are on the ground level. Two double-hung windows, 2-over-2 lights, are on the second story gable end. Three similar windows appear in the long upstairs side wall. A balcony has been constructed off the side of the store building, allowing bedding to be aired on top of the building next door. Another team and wagon are tended by a man in vest and shirt-sleeves in front of the store.
