Inscription/Marks: On the back: 0042-71.
Summary: Birdseye view of Medora (DT) in 1885. In the foreground is the house built for Medora's father Louis von Hoffmann which later became the home of North Dakota's Poet Laureate James Foley, in the background before the buttes is the railroad tracks and railroad bridge on which were shipped the "Northern Pacific Refrigerator Car Company" cars which can be seen on photo left at the loading depot. The packing plant can be seen in the back on photo right with a spur line to the railroad tracks. The church is directly below the overlook in the middle of the photograph.
