Summary: This studio portrait of Louis and Athenais de Vallombrosa poses the children in a sailboat prop named "Manette". Athenais de Vallombrosa sits leaning on the mast and sail. She is wearing a dark sailor dress with wide collar and insignia on her sleeve and a crew neck striped shirt under the top of the dress. A straw hat frames her head. Louis de Vallombrosa is wearing a long white pleated dress coat belted around the middle with a white embroidered belt over a short white lace underwear with dark calf high socks with laced black shoes. Louis's left foot is crossed over his right foot with his toe touching the deck of the boat. He has a soft white hat with a bow on top. Athenais wears her hair in a short flip style with bangs. The painted backdrop shows an ocean scene. The family notes date the picture to 1891.
